Ramon want to hike the Humuula Trail on Mauna Kea and I was to wait for him at the top. We invited Stella and while Ramon was on the trail, I would take Stella touring up above. She hiked to Lake Waiau which is 13,020 ft above sea level...very thin air. Congratulation Stella. Eventually thru thick vog/clouds, Ramon met us at the parking lot at the 13,000 elevation.... Aloha

Black Friday Turkey Nov 29 2013

Turkey cooked on Black Friday in a trashcan. The trashcan must be treated/cured before using. I burned the heck out of the can. I had wrapped 2 flat river rocks with aluminum foil and placed the turkey pan over it. Cook time is 2 hours... use 20 lbs charcoal. Make sure turkey is properly thawed out before cooking it. Aloha

So how was the meat supposed to get the flavor of the ti leaves and banana leaves if the meat is in tin foil?
I wish I was ova dea to eat.
😮
My all time favorite Hawaiian is bruddah IZ. Listening to him sing with the beautiful pictures of Mauna Kea touched my soul.
Wow. Did you take those pictures yourself? They are so awesome.
Sorry for late reply.. Yes, I took those pictures. Hiked up the Humuula trail and other areas
All the best for 2024.
Nowadays stores sell lomi tomato 😊
Smoke salmon is good for this particular bagel sandwich but in my opinion I think salmon Gravlax is tastier ❤
Hi Errol, I tried to contact you but your email is not working anymore. Can you give me a sign if all is okay with you and your family
Dude..u know that ur not supposed to be in the water upside of bridge …FYI
This is pretty much the right way make salted salmon. Too many videos show a short cut process that isn't really correct.
Cooked in aluminum trays? How they gonna get any flavor? That looks gay as fuck. Just put it in the oven.
Aloha did the hike in mid 2000's with the group bbear, kelly, john, kels, markie boi and me. Kels is an eagle scout who navigated the trip. We took about 5-6hrs I think hiking in but we did it quicker on the way out. We camped like 3 nights in waimanu, ate fresh water prawns with saimin and talked stories under the night sky and glowing fire. A couple of fishermen with a cross net provided us with mullet that was grines. I will never forget this hike especially the final mile descending into waimanu where the rocks get slippery and some of the trail wasn't in tact. The last night we were there it poured, and during the night, our tarp started leaking but in the morning 7 new waterfalls greeted us in the back of the valley. Thank you for sharing i feel like a piece of me will always be in that valley.... rest in love markie boi i'm glad you woke me up early to do this trek. and am also glad i didn't know it was 7 miles from the top of waipio.... Great video & matching music ........ jus me
Nice work
Back in the late 80's & through the 90's we used to camp at Mahukona Park and we'd snorkel at Lapakahi at the old canoe ramp. There weren't any huts then. Just the walls and the games area. At a later date, the park became off limits for snorkeling, so we didn't go there any more. It is a very interesting site and when we visited it there were no rangers. We parked outside because if you got caught in there after they locked the gates after hours, you're stuck till they open the gates in the morning. One of my favorite artists, Ku'uipo Kumakahi singing Ka Lehua I Milia. Mahalo from Oakland CA 2022
got to get the goat .
Why didn’t you just cook it in the oven?😂 I know it’s probably the fun in doing it. But damn that’s a lot of work. I cook this in the oven, and there’s really no different in taste and texture. Even better if you have a slow cooker!!
looks ono. what, you stay in hilo? i can hear da koki!
Yup! Hilo
Jus awesome as usual. We all wish we had your green thumb and commitment.
Love the “cha-lang-a-lang” aunties! 💕

really beautiful area there, Mauna Kea . great shots ! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank You.
Would have been nice to see the outcome of all that work......no pics of the food at the end 😠
Im surprised all that didnt smother the fire
Use 1 Tbs of sesame oil in sauce and peanut oil in pan and it will ad another dimension to your meal. I do it all the time using store bought rotisserie chicken or chicken breasts. But I think chicken thighs are probably better.
Too much patience....
that was awesome thanks for the video will try to make the next runion
Awesome video. Was totally stumped on how I was going to paint a hog confinement roof that has R panel metal roofing. Made my life a lot easier seeing how this was done. So thank you.
They used to do this at neighborhood bbqs when I was a kid
if they're going to be in tins and foil whats the difference with this and just poping that in an oven?
How did the finer mesh come along? Is the corn grinder more better? Thank you for the video!
Corn grinder was better
Plan on doing this, I've seen many using tarps
